Calendar Of Events



Do you love sitting around on a summer afternoon talking to friends and listening to oldies music and having hot dogs, chips and a soft drink.  Is this kind of nostalgia, your kind of Americana?  What about beautiful street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars and rat rods?  Then this event is for you and this is exactly what you will find in downtown Paintsville every month.   This event started spring of 2007, and is getting ready to start its third year!  Every 3rd (third) Saturday of the month, from April through October.

The East Kentucky Gearheads’ Car Club with assistance from Paintsville Main Street hosts the Paintsville Cruiz’n. “We start officially at 5:00 pm but a lot of the cars start arriving as early as 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. It’s a cruise in, not a car show, and it’s free to drive on in with your collector car.  It is also free to the public to come and sit a spell, enjoy the afternoon outside and visit with your neighbor. There’s no competition pressure with this event, its great! Lawn chairs, umbrellas, coolers and conversation are a necessity in the cruise in world.

The Gearheads have a 50/50 drawing each month that is split with a lucky winner.  Several local businesses have stepped up to donate door prizes each month. The car club also has sponsors that create a collectors plaque that is given to the first 50 cars that arrive. 

One non profit group is invited each month to raise money for their organization, by selling the best hotdogs and sauce in town! The Kiwanis join in the spring and fall months to sell Kettle Korn which is always a big hit.

“The cruise in is great, it’s good for Paintsville, good for downtown and good for the community as a whole.   Take this as a personal invitation from Paintsville and the East Kentucky Gearheads to come out for an afternoon of leisurely good old fashioned fun!

“A TROPHY WILL BE GIVEN ALONG WITH DINNER FOR TWO FOR THE VINTAGE CAR/HOT ROD ENTHUSIAST THAT TRAVELS THE LONGEST DISTANCE” with “Winner of May 16th“Travel the Farthest” trophy and tee shirt was Jason Fouts from Ironton, OH, he drove in a 1979 Z28.  Thanks to Jason for making the trip.


June 20: Cruise In and special feature Ford Alley

The “Hillbilly Christmas in July” organization will have their motorcycle for raffle at the June 20 Cruise-In.  This is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money/toys for the Shiner’s Hospitals, 100% of monies collected go to Shriner’s Hospital for Children-Lexington, please help support this great cause.

In support of this organization the Gearheads would like to ask for everybody to bring one toy during the year for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children-Lexington.

Sept. 12  -  First Annual “RIDE WITH A PAL”

This event will be held in Archer Park at Prestonsburg between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. This event is being sponsored by East KY Gearheads Car Club, Archer Park and the City of Prestonsburg.

This event will provide a day of fun activities for the Special Olympics and Handicap kids and their families.  We invite all car enthusiasts to bring their cars and help create a day of fun and enjoyment for these special kids and their families.

There will be free food and ice cream for the special kids and their families along with games, face painting, dunking booth, basketball and much more.  The police and fire department will escort a cruise through town and the local area.

Sept. 19: Cruise In and special feature Race Cars, Rat Rods, anything primer or unfinished.

Oct 17: Afternoom (1pm to 5pm) Cruise In, special feature Fall Favorites, Chilli and Cookie Contest
