Do you love sitting around on a summer afternoon talking to friends and listening to oldies music and having hot dogs, chips and a soft drink.  Is this kind of nostalgia, your kind of Americana?  What about beautiful street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars and rat rods?  Then this event is for you and this is exactly what you will find in downtown Paintsville every month.   This event started spring of 2007, and is getting ready to start its third year!  Every 3rd (third) Saturday of the month, from April through October.

The East Kentucky Gearheads’ Car Club with assistance from Paintsville Main Street hosts the Paintsville Cruiz’n. “We start officially at 5:00 pm but a lot of the cars start arriving as early as 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. It’s a cruise in, not a car show, and it’s free to drive on in with your collector car.  It is also free to the public to come and sit a spell, enjoy the afternoon outside and visit with your neighbor. There’s no competition pressure with this event, its great! Lawn chairs, umbrellas, coolers and conversation are a necessity in the cruise in world.

The Gearheads have a 50/50 drawing each month that is split with a lucky winner.  Several local businesses have stepped up to donate door prizes each month. The car club also has sponsors that create a collectors plaque that is given to the first 50 cars that arrive. 

One non profit group is invited each month to raise money for their organization, by selling the best hotdogs and sauce in town! The Kiwanis join in the spring and fall months to sell Kettle Korn which is always a big hit.

“The cruise in is great, it’s good for Paintsville, good for downtown and good for the community as a whole.   Take this as a personal invitation from Paintsville and the East Kentucky Gearheads to come out for an afternoon of leisurely good old fashioned fun!
